1. BUAD 501 – difficult class to get B at least

2. Financial Accounting 510 – I have to study this because I decide to change my major – FINANCE. All subjects relating to Finance should be taken from the beginning.

3. Legal Evironment 518 – I’ve heard a rumour that this is also a difficult class and maybe I’ve created a burden on my own when taking this class. By the way, NO PAIN NO GAIN. I’ll try to smile with him (Mr. 518) during the Spring semester. Cool!

Fire – November 15, 2008

1 p.m – After lunch. Tammy looked a smoke rising from afar through the window of our room and told me, “There is a fire!” A FIRE! I heard a lot about forest fires in California but I haven’t thought that one day a fire can take place somewhere around my place. However, a mass of thick, dark smoke quickly spread and covered a part of the sky. Stop talking with a friend on the phone, I jumped into Tammy’s car. We drove towards the fire – in Yorba Linda Hill – to see the fire which would be specially reported on mass media in hours.

Many people came to Mountain View Park to see and take pics of the fire which might happen in Anaheim Hills or Brea area.

Halloween, November 03, 2008

Since I came here, I have been familiar with a new term: HALLOWEEN!!! During one month before Halloween day, people thought about and discussed this event. I heard of it when I was still in Vietnam, via news on TV every year, that people around the world liked to enjoy a big festival with strange costumes and decoration on their bodies. However, I was not impressed because there wasn’t Halloween in my homeland. Moreover, I really didn’t like the world of ghosts and devils, and if I had seen them, I would have been scared to death. Thanks to God, I haven’t seen ghosts so far but I still believe that there are a different world, a spiritual world, that exists here and there in the middle of the immense universe and among space layers…

I still remembered the day I went to Universal Studio. Two other friends and I entered a place called HOUSE OF HORROR. I was between them, just held my friends’ arms, closed my eyes completely and followed them. I heard some screams in front of me, making my heart beat faster. Finally, when we existed, I didn’t know what took place inside that HOUSE and how it looked like!!! And here is another example. I went to LA downtown few weeks ago with friends. A man dressed up himself like a killer with a knife in one hand and walked on Hollywood Boulevard to scare people. He scared one of my friend, making her scream. Because she was standing beside me, her screams, like a domino effect, made me scream either. She ran away, and I followed her in a real horror, even though I didn’t know what happened!!!

Last Friday, I came to LA again to enjoy Halloween Festival in West Hollywood Boulevard. A man in devil costume looked at me and scared me. My friend held my arms. I felt scared too. Suddenly I said, ” I SAW YOU” and tried to keep calm. He still looked at me and made some frightening sounds. I tried to smile with him and continued,” I SAW YOU, HI!!!” Finally he went away. When I overcame the first fear, I really enjoyed Halloween Festival there. I saw different strange costumes, from beautiful angels and princesses to devils and ghosts, from funny guys with odd outfits and accessories to gays with sparkling dresses… People enjoyed a joyful atmostphere, walking around to show their costumes, dancing together and taking pictures. The street was rather long with full of such people. Small food booths along the street for hunger souls. Music and colorful lights everywhere. When we turned back, unending flow of people coming to the festival still continued – flow of happiness seemed to be prolonged forever…

Saturday night was another happy moment. After being trained in LA Halloween Festival, I became braver . I came to a beautiful place named QUEEN MARRY, which was originally a famous ghost ship. I could entered some kinds of horror chambers located on the ship, holding my friends’ hands closely with open eyes this time! Although most of the time I was informed whether there were some false ghosts in front of us, I still jumped out of my skin because of their appearance. However, I could smile with them, even tease
them more naturally.

Finally I realized that they were lovely ghosts and devils because they brought happy time and joyful moments to everyone…
