Slumdog Millionaire, March 29, 2009

I like this film!!!

It was wonderful to see an interesting film like Slumdog Millionaire among other students of CSUF at 10:00pm, especially after I finished an in-class writing of 501. The atmosphere in the ASI theater was special. No vacant seat – of course, for a film which won 8 Academy Awards, including the Best Picture and Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song (“Jai Ho”). Although I sometimes couldn’t understand what characters were saying (because of their Indian’s accent, too small translations (for Indian conversations), and my badly listening skill (addmitedly!!! )), I was still impressed by the bright face of Jamal – the main character, and the way the director made this film. There were some details I might not agree with him… I had a feeling that the director solved all situations by the destiny theory: it is Jamal’s destiny when “every moment of his life is a clue to the answers and every question brings him closer and closer to his one true love“. The past mixes the present during a 120-minute long film, creating a “millionaire” Jamal at the end – when he finds his love again. Love is just the real fortune to Jamal, not 20 million rupees he earns from the Gameshow “Who wants to be a millionaire”…

This is a worth watching film…

Going for a Hike, March 28, 2009

 

I knew this song the first time from Ms. Michell Luster. At that time I was in a Ceremony, among a lot of ALP friends. Ms. Luster stepped onto the main stage and taught us this song. Then I became her student in an American Pronunciation course. I made waves in her class and it was my happy time. And now, I want to be a member to help her place the ground for the first ALP club – International Gateway Club (IGC). That’s the reason why I went hiking with ALP this morning.

 

 It’s funny when saying that I went hiking. HIKING, HIKING – at least today I knew what the hiking is. Just following the trail to go around Chino hill, you are hikers! I did it! I enjoyed a sunny day, the blue sky and a lot ,a lot a lot of yellow flowers along the trail. However, I decided to give up the hike because I couldn’t stay in the sun for a long time – because I was not healthy enough to continue the trip under hot sunshine. Finally, after 1 year in the U.S, I’m not stronger than I was before. I still remember that I am afraid of going out in the afternoon. I may feel tired and exhausted. Well, I must accept this as one of my weakness in the rest of my life even though I try to go under the sun more often, taking a nap in the afternoon less and working more instead.

Mistake, March 14, 2009

 

I think you are my little close friend and you used to be my friend ’cause you always gave me a hand.

I think we are friends because we used to share same thoughts, same feelings about some issues.

I think I can understand you and so do you. But I’m wrong. I think you respect me as I do. But you don’t.

I have been trying to hide away my feelings about you. I have been trying to adjust my life style because I know that you really don’t like it. But day by day, I also realize that I am trying to stay away from you and that I’m not your close friend anymore…

Perhaps I made some mistakes because I let you be so close to me. If we still kept distance as we did on the first days we knew each other, maybe we would be good friends forever. And this is also another mistake because if there is distance between us, we can’t be close friends.

Sometime, I may hurt you in some ways, even though I don’t intend to do so. But many times, I also felt hurt deeply inside. Can we be friends if we hurt each other more frequently?

Just because I made some mistakes. Again.
